SLEEPING IN THE DESERT | Booker Travels

SLEEPING IN THE DESERT

One of the highlights of Booker’s trip to Morocco was a chance to sleep in the Sahara and watch the sunrise. For anyone traveling to this part of the world, don’t miss it. The best way? By camping…

When going to the desert, book two nights at a hotel that also offers tent accommodations in the dunes. We really loved our time: with one day enjoying the sand dunes only, and the second spent checking out the villages around the desert.

There are two main villages where people arrange hotels in the Moroccan Sahara.

1st is Erfoud

2nd is Merzouga

In Merzouga, we stayed at Kasbah Hotel Tombouctou

SOME EXTRA TIPS:

Desert Weather

When planning your itinerary, be flexible. Weather in the desert can be tricky, and sand storms can easily change your schedule.

If you don’t want to get stuck in camel traffic…

In the dunes, we passed many campsites with huge tents housing large groups. if you want a more private experience, like Booker’s, request a small tent of your own

Another Recommendation

Another suggestion for a place to stay is the Auberge Du Sud
